Structured Cabling Engineer

BE Technologies, a Division of Baker Electric, Inc. is seeking a Structured Cable Engineer to join our team.

BE Technologies is a premier installer of information transport systems in the Midwest. The Cabling Division staff has all the training, credentials/certifications and experience to handle all types and sizes of installations from small companies to the largest corporations. We have a proven track record to perform professional work.

As a Structured Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for increasing efficiency, implement new technology, ensure cable industry standards are met, and to assist with maintaining quality assurance.

Work tasks/responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Perform ongoing quality audits to assure vendor work meets quality standards. Review, comprehend, and implement work as shown in contract documents. Able to review drawings and report back discrepancies
  • Partner with Project Management and Foreman to support design reviews, BOM reviews, and as-built drawing validations.
  • Assure site as-built design documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Participate in project pipeline planning and discussions related to the job.
  • Demonstrate a clear knowledge of industry codes, standards, and methods such as BICSI and OSHA.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience reviewing design documents and specifications
  • 3 years’ experience as an Structured Cabling Engineer or equivalent field leadership experience
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Bluebeam
  • Experience thinking strategically and acting tactically
  • Pleasant and cooperative demeanor towards customers and co-workers
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and project schedules

Compensation is based on skill level, applicable certifications, experience, and professionalism.

Low Voltage Installer

Job Description
This position offers the opportunity to join a hard-working and professional team to learn basic voice, data, and video installation techniques as well as build on existing skills.

Work tasks include but not limited to:

  • Assist Low Voltage Technicians on data cabling, fiber installation, A/V, access control, and video surveillance installations and other tasks
  • Handle and use materials, tools, and equipment
  • Manage job-site inventory and clean-up
  • Take part in the project workforce

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in telecommunications and/or construction industry preferred but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to understand and follow directions with given tasks
  • Willingness to learn and initiative to apply knowledge
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic
  • Commitment to a drug-free work environment

Electrician’s Helper

Baker Electric Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to add to our team as an Electrician’s Helper.

Position Summary:
This position offers the opportunity to learn basic electrical construction installation techniques with the potential for advancement in training and wages. Prior experience in the electrical and/or construction industry preferred, but not required. Work tasks include: material handling, assisting electricians in installation tasks, using hand and power tools, jobsite inventory and clean-up, and learning skills to be a productive part of a project workforce.

The successful candidate is dependable, able to understand and follow directions, and willing to learn quickly. Must obtain and maintain personal tools. High School diploma or equivalent and pre-hire drug screening required.
